Complex Carb love

I’m loving my warm bowl of oatmeal in the morning lately. It’s even better during winter. It’s been a while since I’ve last had any thoughts related to fitness. I do have things I’d like to talk about, look up or plan. I love planning my week for my workouts or meals but at the moment it never goes accordingly. Something comes up or I take a 6 hour nap or forget to pack lunch. I don’t exactly have a fixed routine at the moment so that doesn’t help. I’m just hoping one of these days I’ll manage to do everything according to plan and stay consistent with my meal prep.

Anyways back to our complex carbs breakfast. Found in whole grains, vegetables, peas, beans, complex carbs prevent your sugar levels from fluctuating by getting digested more slowly and lets not forget how important fibre is to the little guys in our gut. It’s so weird to actually think of my own Microbiota as like important to my well being. There is an actual community of good bacteria living inside my gut that I have to consider when eating because it directly affects the nutrients I absorb and studies have shown that it does have a relation to how well your immune system works. Just a reminder, complex carbs being starch and fibre are key to long term health, maintaining weight and decreasing the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
